How To Draw a Fluffy Monster Wearing A Top Hat
Share
Alright friends. I've always wanted to create how-to-draw stuff. You know, those step-by-step guides that make even the least artistic person feel like a Picasso? Well, today we're diving in! Let's start with something fun and fluffy: a monster wearing a top hat.

Today we're diving into the world of imaginative drawing and creating a fluffy monster friend. Don't worry if you're not a seasoned artist; this is all about fun and experimentation. Let's gooooo!
Step 1: Base Shapes
Let's start by sketching out some basic shapes for your monster.
Draw a circle (it doesn't have to be a perfect circle) for the head

Then draw part of an oval coming off of the head for the body.

For the arms, draw a hook shape from where to head and body meet to just past 3/4 of the way down the body. Repeat with the hook shape facing the opposite direction for the other side.

Draw 2 arches at the bottom of the body, and connect each with a curved line to create some sneakers. Add a curved line for the bottom of each shoe and long rectangles for the laces.

Add half circles where you want each finger. I'm giving my monster 4 fingers and a thumb. The thumbs should be closest to the body here.

Remember, there are no rules when making art, so feel free to experiment with different variations on these shapes and different sizes. You now have your fluffy monster's basic outline and a pair of sneakers.
Step 2: Fluff It Up
Now, let's add some fluff!
Draw rounded half-circle shapes around your monster's body to give it a cuddly appearance. Think of clouds or cotton balls when adding these fluffy elements.

You can make the fluff as dense or sparse as you like by adding more fluffy shapes in the middle of the body.
Repeat for both sides of the body and down the outside edges of each arm. Stop the fluff at the fingers.

Your monster should be all fluffed out at this point, all while sporting a belly that probably is used for laughing maniacally.
Step 3: Facial Features
Let's add some personality to our monster with expressive eyes.
Draw 2 circles for the eyes. I like to make one a little bigger than the other for a little bit more personality.

Draw 2 more circles inside the big circles; these are the irises and eyeballs.

Now we'll add the light.... one last tiny circle in the upper right of the eyeball circle. Fill in your eyeballs and watch your monster come to life!

Add details in the iris by adding a zigzag shape from the eyeball to edge of the iris and back to the eyeball. Repeat around.

Draw a mouth by first drawing the top lip and bottom lip lines.

Repeat those lines inside the lines you just drew to create lips. All of the lines should be touching at the corners.

So this guy has classic monster pointy teeth. I like to start from the middle and work towards the edge of the mouth. Starting from the middle top, draw a diagonal line down to the bottom lip and then back up again to the top of the lip. Repeat this across and then on the other side of the mouth. Add fluffy laugh lines.

Step 4: The Cool Hat
It's time to design your monster's headgear! We're doing an awesome top hat, because I love to draw top hats. Your monster will look cool; don't worry.
Draw a straight line across the monster's forehead, in the area of where you want your hat to sit.

Now draw a rectangle that sits slightly above the straight line you just drew.

Connect your hat by drawing a hook shaped curve from the side of the rectangle attaching it to the edge of the straight line. Repeat this step for the other side of the top hat.

Create a band for your top hat by adding another straight line towards the bottom of your top hat rectangle. Design your top hat band with shapes that make you happy.

You have successfully drawn a fluffy monster wearing a top hat! Give yourself a high five. Color in your design if you feel like it or get to drawing an entire army of fluffy monsters, each with a top hat.
Remember: There's no right or wrong way to draw. The most important thing is to have fun and let your creativity flow. Don't be afraid to make mistakes or try new things. Think outside the box.
